Scope of work
To survey, assess and report thermal hotspots and visual faults the complete NSW Transgrid power transmission and distribution network including 60,000 transmission towers and distribution poles and lines spanning 8253 miles.
Reporting must include any heat variation above 5 degrees celcius with any variation above 25 degrees celcius to be reported within the day.
Daily reports supplied with HD still thermal images, closeup 4K still images and full locational data overlays including the severity, nature and exact position of each detected fault or variation. (See sample report attached).

Challenges
Ensuring AFR meets rigid contractual timelines and budgets.
Predicting weather conditions and changing our flight routes to take advantage of, or avoid weather holds or interruptions.
Ensuring regular crew swap outs to comply with flight and duty regulations and address fatigue resulting from a harsh working environment and extremely high cognitive workloads.
Conducting overnight scheduled aircraft and camera system maintenance so as not to impact our survey schedules.
Ensuring all data is retrieved daily so data analysis reports can be generated overnight and reach the client withing 24 hours
Extensive quality control to ensure accuracy and efficacy of fault reporting.
