In partnership with Elite Helicopters, Airview Fire Recon (AFR) is preparing to commence operations for the 2024 Queensland fire contract period, with the team finalising readiness to deliver advanced aerial intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities in support of wildfire management across the region.

In the lead-up to deployment, AFR has completed extensive upgrades to its ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) and mapping systems. These enhancements have been fully installed, rigorously tested, and refined to ensure optimal performance in demanding operational environments. Alongside these technical developments, flight crews and operational personnel have undertaken comprehensive training and orientation, ensuring a high level of preparedness across all aspects of the mission.
The helicopter platform has been fully rigged, with flight testing successfully completed, confirming the seamless integration and performance of all onboard systems ahead of the season.
Close collaboration between AFR and Elite Helicopters has been a key focus during the preparation phase, with joint training and testing ensuring strong coordination and operational alignment between both teams prior to deployment.
AFR’s on-site team in Toowoomba will include Joshua Brookes Allen, Chief Operations and Technology Officer, supported by experienced systems operators Tami Tacklind and Michael Wilson. The team will be in place for the duration of the 2024 fire season, providing continuous operational support.

With all systems tested, personnel trained, and partnerships aligned, AFR is ready and looking forward to delivering this vital service to the Queensland Fire Department, supporting safer and more informed fireground operations throughout the upcoming season.
